Not being able to think of a blog post idea is the worst! I absolutely hate when that happens to me and so I’m always jotting down blog post ideas to help me when I’m stuck. Here are 15 from my list.
Create an outfit of the day post
This is self explanatory and pretty easy if you have a style or beauty blog. If you don’t blog about style or beauty try to incorporate an outfit post into your blog’s niche. For example, if you blog about finance, post an outfit you’d wear to a financial meeting or job interview.
Do a product review
Keep the review in your blog’s niche. Don’t do makeup reviews if you have a photography blog or vice versa. Instead try out a product or service that your audience would probably want to use and tell them what you think about it. This is also helpful because people might google the thing you reviewed and end up on your blog.
Interview someone who has a success story
Is there someone who you think deserves recognition? Tell us about them. I like interviews that go a little deeper than the surface or don’t ask the same questions that everyone else is asking. I bet your audience would like that to.
Tell us about your mistakes
Have you made a mistake in blogging or life and learned from it? Everyone loves a good triumphant story. I share mistakes all the time on this blog and on the newsletter. I feel that it makes the audience relate to me more and it helps people avoid my mistakes too.
Share your tips & tricks
There is an entire section about tips and tricks here on the blog. It helps to share the things you know with your audience.
Share the “behind the scenes”
Admit it, you love to see what your favorite bloggers are up to on a day to day. You should show your readers what an average day in your life is like even if you don’t blog full time because it’s just plain interesting. Now and days you can do this on Snapchat (candicevanwye) or Instastories but a blog post lives for longer than 24 hours.
Create a how-to post
Show us how you do that amazing thing you do. You know the thing. The thing!!!!
Make a list
This post is the perfect example. Keep your list interesting and useful.
Tell us about useful apps
Have you seen those What’s On My iPhone videos on Youtube? It would be cool to show your readers your favorite apps. We all have smartphones and tablets these days and we’re all trying to make life easier. Tell us how you do it.
Do a book review
Brown Girls read you know. Tell us about books you’ve been reading in your niche. Lately I’ve loved Shonda Rhimes Year Of Yes, Luvvie’s book I’m Judging You and Issa Rae’s The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl. What have you been reading lately?
Go on a rant
These should be done sparingly but we all have that one thing that annoys the crap out of us.
Create a pros and cons list
Tell us the good, the bad and the ugly.
Write a “things you don’t know about me” post
Tell us that weird thing about you. We’re nosey and we want to know.
Share your opinion
What do you think about a popular event that just happened or something big in the news? Having these every now and again, no matter your niche, will interest your readers.
Share you goals
Tell us what you hope to accomplish this week, this month, and this year. We want to be inspired.
What blog post ideas would you like to share?
