This Week’s Links (11/10 – 11/14)

Happy Friday #BrownGirlBloggers!

Candice and I are committed to sharing and promoting as much content as we can from #BrownGirlBloggers around the blogosphere.

Part of our commitment includes us rounding up a list of blog posts that we enjoyed reading over the span of the week and coming to the blog to encourage you to read them.

So, here’s what we read and bookmarked this week:

The Power In Supporting Other Women: In this post, Amber Janae writes about the importance of other women supporting one another. Here at Brown Girl Bloggers, we’re all about standing in solidarity with other women, so this one definitely hit home.

The Battle for Representation: Media and Pop Culture: Tyece of Twenties Unscripted is currently running a series of essays, videos and guest posts, all of which delve deeper into the “the intricacies, the pain and the perfect storm of black womanhood.” She kicks off the series with several different essays about Black women’s representation in popular culture, including TV, web series and digital media. Must-read!

30 Days of Gratitude – Day 1 – Platform: Fatima of Freely Fatima is currently hosting a 30 Days of Gratitude Challenge, and although we’re days late to the party, we think her series is worth checking out. So far, she’s written short posts about being grateful for education, growth, having a platform, laughter and quiet moments.

A Month to Remember: In this post, Danielle from The Lifestyle Project shares some good news about her life (she accepted a job offer!), but also how she’s been handling the news that a very close family member just passed away. Danielle’s post reminded me that life is about taking and dealing with the good and bad.
DIY Kate Spade Coffee Mugs: In this post, Carmen from Simply Carmen Renee shows us how to make gold-dotted coffee mugs inspired by Kate Spade. You’ll need minimal supplies and it looks super easy to do. If you’re looking for a weekend project, check this post out.
Fashion for Your iPhone: If you’re in the market for fabulous and fashionable iPhone cases to dress your phone in, Kyle from Chic & Defined has curated lots of different, reasonably priced options. I’m eyeing that ‘Flawless’ one and the Chanel one.
Labor and Birth Story: In this post, Jenny from Escape and Inspire gets candid about what her labor and childbirth experience was like. She recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Maya. Congratulations, Jenny!
4 Altruistic Ways to Be a Better Internet Citizen: In this post, Mary of Verily Merrily Mary offers four ways we could work to better to each other while interacting in the blogosphere and on the Internet more generally.

Enjoyed this week’s links? We urge you to read, comment on, and share them with your social media followers in support of other #BrownGirlBloggers.
