I’ve previously discussed ways that you may be running readers away from your blog. You’ll recall that one way I said you may be running them away is through distracting pop-ups, asking them to opt-in for your newsletter or ‘like’ your Facebook page.
Well, today I’m back to share four other places that you can display your opt-in forms for your Facebook fan page, mailing lists, and so forth. Let’s get into it, shall we?
Top of Your Sidebar
Having an opt-in form at the top of your sidebar is ideal because this is where most readers naturally look to find important information about a blog. I suggest displaying the sign-in form at the top of your sidebar before or after your social media profile links.
Bottom of Each Post
If your blog posts are engaging, readers will likely read the entire post. Having an eye-catching opt-in form at the end of each post will encourage readers who truly enjoyed the post to sign up to get more of them delivered via email, or to ‘like’ you on Facebook, or to join your mailing list.
Footer of Your Blog
Granted, this is not the most prominent place to put an opt-in box, but having an empty footer isn’t a good idea either. Rather than clogging your footer with unnecessary stuff, display a subscribe button/link or an opt-in form. This gives your readers something to do once they reach the bottom of your site.
Your Email Signature
If you’re a blogger, I imagine that you’re constantly communicating with your blog readers, clients, other bloggers, and brands and businesses via email. Don’t let this be a missed opportunity to grow your mailing list and/or social media following. Include links to your mailing list and/or social media profiles in your email signature. Be sure to make the links bold and eye-catching.
