Brown Girl Think Tank

“No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind [the master mind].”  – Napoleon Hill

First, let’s talk about what a “Mastermind Group” or “Think Tank is.

A mastermind group is a group of people who help each other with brainstorming, ideas, support, and accountability.  The goal is to have people with a similar set of goals help push each other forward. You can read a longer definition here.

Now, let’s talk about why you (and I) need a mastermind group.

If you own a business online or you blog, chances are, you’re really lonely. Society has convinced us that we have to work 40hrs a week at a “real job” and that following our dreams isn’t worth it. Unfortunately for us, the dreamers, most of our friends or family think this way.

We need a safe place to talk about our frustrations, ideas and successes without feeling like a burden or feeling like our ideas will be stolen (I can’t be the only one!) We need a network of our peers to help us on the path to success.

Ok, so who are our peers?

Our peers are other bloggers or entrepreneurs who understand the struggle and want to help us as well as help themselves become better at the craft.

What happens during a session?

  1. Each session, one or two members will be spotlighted. They will have the chance to give a presentation of their business or blog. They can focus on issues, opportunities they have, new ideas, etc.
  2. The members of the group will respond to those members by giving feedback and sharing different approaches or perspectives.
  3. We will spend 30 minutes or so having a round table discussion on a topic like marketing, writing, setting up programs, etc.
  4. Everyone will list something they want to be held accountable for by the group between the current session and the next. This may be posting a certain number of times a week, pitching to a new clients, etc
  5. We end each meeting with a positive message.

Note: Sessions will be from 1 hour to 1.5 hours.

Why I decided to host the Brown Girl Bloggers Think Tank

I’ve been hosting and attending mastermind groups for about two years and it’s completely changed my life. I learned that I could live my life without giving in to the pressure to be a corporate drone or by working a job I hate. I think 9-5 jobs are awesome if they are your passion but when they aren’t most of your day sucks.

This group is for those of us who want amazing blogs that are read by more than our moms and those of us who want to work a job we love whether that be for others or for ourselves.

I don’t ever want to feel stuck. I don’t want to feel like I can’t follow my dreams or have a successful blog. I can have ALL of these things. I do have all of these things.

And you can too.

So, join the group. Help me and I’ll help you.

Keep In Mind

There will be two groups. One for entrepreneurs who may have businesses not exactly related to blogging and one for bloggers. Choose the group you’re most interested in.

These groups will be help by conference call and we will also have a private Facebook group or GroupMe so that we can discuss things when we aren’t in a session.

IMPORTANT: You can NOT discuss what we’ve discussed in our group with other people. You are not allowed to steal people’s ideas. If someone brings up something that you’ve also thought about mention it right away. This is a positive space.

There is a few associated with this group. It is between $50-$75 a month. If this doesn’t fit into your budget I completely understand. We have this fee to help me with hosting, the conference call and other things needed to support the group. It’s also to hold you accountable.

I don’t want you to sign up and skip out on meetings or not take it as seriously as you should. It’s your future we’re talking about.
