Treating Your Blog Like A Business: Posting Even When You Don’t Want To

I don’t think there’s a person in the world who always wants to go to work. No matter how much you love your job you will wake up some mornings and not want to do it.

Ask me how I know.

When you’re a blogger it’s so easy not post for a few days or post only when you feel like it. Unfortunately, if this is your job that directly affects page views which affects money which affects your livelihood.

No one wants that to happen.

That’s why you have to write, take pictures or do research whether you want to or not. You have to treat your blog like you would your job if you generate income from it or hope to in the future.

That doesn’t mean you can’t take vacations or skip work for a day or two but you’ve got to take it as seriously as you would a 9-5. You have to get yourself into the mindset that you’re going to do it because you have no choice.

Blogging is only a part of what I do but I put myself on a schedule. I won’t pretend that I follow it precisely but it’s a rough guideline to help me navigate my day.

Sometimes I don’t want to write. I have to force myself to do it but I do because writing is like a muscle that I have to exercise. The same can be said for blogging. You’ve got to exercise that muscle if you want it to be strong.

Do you treat your blog like a business?
