When Should You Invest In Your Brand?

I remember when I first started contemplating investing in my brand. It wasn’t a hard decision for me but I know it can be a hard decision for some especially if you’re not sure how much effort you want to put into blogging. For me, this is how I make my living. As a writer my blog is a direct reflection of my skills so I know I have to be on top of things at all times.
Here are the things that made me decide it was time to invest in my brand.I Want To Make More Money

I didn’t start blogging to make money from my blog and quite honestly it’s still not one of my priorities. I started blogging to showcase my writing and thought process. I also got a lot of questions from recent college grads and current college students about my involvement on campus and about how I got a job after only three weeks of searching right out of college. I thought it would be a good place to answer those questions. Now my blog has grown to be so much more and I know I have to invest in my brand so I can make money from it.I Have A Quality Body Of Work

When I first started blogging on my personal blog I had the most simple blog design. It was never about flash but about quality content. I didn’t hire someone to design some crazy high tech page. I just put my thoughts down. Eventually I hired someone to create a logo for me. (Hey Rekita Nicole!) and started to work on design a bit. Now, I’m at the point where hiring a web designer might be a good idea. I believe you should start with what you have and build upon it. But still keep in mind that to make money you have to spend money.

People Are Interested In What I Have To Say

I get comments and emails from people who genuinely enjoy my blog and what I have to say. It means the world to me and makes me feel so good! It’s nice to have that validation from my small audience and it makes me believe I can appeal to a wider audience.

I’ll Never Be 100% Sure If It Will Work Out So I Have To Try

Who knows how my brand will grow or what will come from it? No one that’s who. At some point I’ve got to believe in myself and give this thing a real shot. If I don’t then I’ll regret it or go at a snail’s pace and ain’t nobody got time for that!
